Shahrazad Encinias is an independent bilingual journalist and lecturer based out of Southern California. She believes that freedom of speech and freedom of expression are key in educating people on equity and justice.

She’s a Guatemalan-American social journalist working in print and online. She has reported out of the Southern California, Southern Arizona, U.S.-Mexico borderlands, and Central America.
Over the years, she has covered topics from politics, femicide, border politics, immigration, health, environment to military life, human trafficking, art and culture. She has also covered local events, red carpet events, and written features about celebrities. Not to mention her expertise in press freedom in Central America.
Shahrazad also fact-checks for an online daily in Costa Rica, teaches in the department of Central American and Transborder Studies at CSU Northridge, ghost writes, consults and does social media for other news organizations and non-profit organizations.
